Stevie Stays

COLERAINE FC is delighted to announce that Stephen Lowry has agreed a new one-year contract with the club…

The midfielder, who has made 340 appearances for the club to date, will continue his association with the Bannsiders for at least another 12 months.

Lowry is currently enjoying his second spell on the Ballycastle Road and helped Coleraine lift the BetMcLean League Cup in 2020, as well as scoring in the final of the same competition this year.

The 35-year-old was named as the club’s Player of the Year in 2020/21 and made 48 appearances last season.

Coleraine boss Oran Kearney acknowledged that Lowry’s consistency has never dwindled during his time at the club.

“Stevie more than deserves this new deal,” he said.

“We always challenge players in his position to stop Stevie playing as many games but to be fair he keeps delivering on a consistent basis.

“We will be laying the same gauntlet down this season but knowing Stevie like we do, he will want to play as many games as possible.

“He is a great pro and athlete who leads by example and we are pleased he will be here next season.”
