DEAN Shiels believes Coleraine should have had something to show for their efforts after being beaten at The Oval last night…

An own goal by Charles Dunne and Dylan Connolly’s arrowed strike gave the hosts all three points in the first post-split fixture.

The Bannsiders had their chances throughout the 90 minutes and Shiels remarked how it seemed his side had so many “nearly moments”.

A penalty from Declan McManus in stoppage-time halved the arrears but it was simply a case of too little, too late, but Shiels credited his squad for having a never-say-die attitude in their bid to get back into the contest.

Shiels also provided an update on Levi Ives after the defender had to be substituted with a suspected shoulder injury.
