Trio near return – OK

COLERAINE boss Oran Kearney revealed that a few players are nearing a return to action as his side celebrated a 2-0 win against Portadown…

A penalty in each half from Ben Doherty would prove to be the difference as the Bannsiders cut the gap at the top of the Danske Bank Premiership to two points.

Kearney revealed that the game had similarities to last weekend’s win against Warrenpoint Town as the visitors were fresher due to recent postponements.

The Bannsiders led 1-0 at the break but Portadown had several big chances and the boss acknowledged that the Stripes had to rely on Gareth Deane too many times in the opening 45 minutes.

Kearney highlighted the impact of the substitutes as Jamie Glackin and Eoin Bradley combined to win the penalty, as well as revealing a few players aren’t too far away from returning from injury.

Coleraine next face Dungannon Swifts on Saturday and Kearney is fully aware of the change of management at Stangmore Park and knows they will be looking for a response after a defeat to Warrenpoint Town.
