COLERAINE Women’s Reserves continued their strong start to the Division 7 Cup with a well-earned 2–0 victory over Antrim Town Swifts last night, making it two wins for two in the competition…

From the opening whistle, it was clear Coleraine meant business, pressing high and putting the Antrim defence under immediate pressure. Their intensity paid off in the 22nd minute when Vanessa Somerville delivered a superb through ball to Alex Bachman-Williams, who timed their run to perfection before calmly slotting home to give the home side a deserved lead.

Coleraine kept the pressure on, creating more opportunities before the break, but Antrim’s back line held firm to keep the deficit to just one at half-time.

The second half began much like the first, with Coleraine picking up where they left off. Just minutes in, Hayley Mathieson found Bachman-Williams once again with a pinpoint pass, and the in-form striker made no mistake, finishing confidently to double the advantage.

Antrim, to their credit, responded with determination. Tactical changes and fresh legs brought a new spark, and they carved out a handful of chances in the closing stages.

However, Coleraine remained composed and disciplined at the back, managing the remainder of the match with maturity and control.

When the final whistle blew, Coleraine could celebrate not only a clean sheet but also a commanding performance that kept their momentum rolling in this season’s cup campaign.

A big thank you goes to Antrim Town Swifts for making the journey, and best of luck to them in the rest of their matches.
