MATTHEW Shevlin says the Bannsiders are striving to maintain their recent good run of results as they visit Glenavon this afternoon…

Three important Premiership points are up for grabs at Mourneview Park as Coleraine look to build on their back-to-back victories against Linfield and Portadown.

The Bannsiders were thwarted late on in their last visit to Lurgan courtesy of a 3-3 draw – but Shevlin says they won’t dwell too much on that ahead of the 3pm kick-off.

“It was good to get three points against a good Portadown team,” he reflected.

“They’ve had a good season to date…so we knew we had to be at it.

“To a man we were good that day and got the three points.

“You’ve just got to treat it as another game.

“Obviously you’ll be thinking about the 3-3 draw a little bit but we’ve got to treat it as a new game, prepare for this week and try and get the three points.”

Glenavon were victorious through the week as Chris Atherton and Jack Malone scored in a 2-0 success away at Loughgall.

Shevlin admits he has been impressed by Glenavon’s recent form – but knows Coleraine have also turned a corner in recent weeks.

He added: “The last time we played Glenavon we threw the lead away right at the end.

“We will be going there looking to get the three points this time.

“It was Paddy (McLaughlin’s) first home game that day and they’ve gone on a real run since then.

“It’s a completely different Glenavon team but we are going there to win.

“We’ve been really defensively solid recently and we’ve got to keep that going, as well as putting the ball into the back of the net.”
