KRC Genk would score twice in each half to take a commanding lead heading into next week’s second leg, with Smith acknowledging that the opposition had several top class players at their disposal.
Smith also reflected on the experience his side gained throughout the 90 minutes and held special praise for ‘keeper Billy McDowell who put in an inspired performance between the sticks.
The boss challenged his players to make an impact during next week’s second leg in Belgium.
