We need to maximise big moments: Kane
LYNDON Kane says Coleraine need to make the most of ‘big moments’ in games as the Bannsiders face Dungannon Swifts this afternoon…
Speaking in a pre-match press conference, the 27-year-old acknowledged that whilst performances so far this season have largely been good, the squad are being punished for a lack of clinical edge in both boxes.
Dean Shiels’ men face Dungannon Swifts in a double-header both this weekend and the following Saturday in the Premiership and Irish Cup respectively.
Kane said: “We’ve said it a lot and we haven’t backed that up with results.
“We probably did alright over the Christmas period and thought if we won on Saturday past, we were right back in the mix.
“Not that we are out of it by any stretch…but I think we’re probably not far away in terms of consistency with performances.
“It’s the big moments in games that’s really killing us.
“We are probably missing big chances but then we are conceding sloppy goals, so it’s just eradicating that and taking it forward.
“We have ten big games before the split and it’s a real big push now to get back in the mix.”
The Coleraine faithful are set to be on their travels for the next two weekends and Kane said the support both at home and on the road is appreciated by the first-team squad.
“The support is obviously massive for us,” he added.
“I don’t think people realise until you step on a pitch how much it actually helps you.
“Our fans are excellent and they travel in their numbers and the next two weeks will be no different.
“They are two massive games, two completely different games but our focus is on the league game as we need to get a run of form.
“We appreciate them all the time and we just ask them to be loud, to support the team and hopefully we can reward them with three points.
Supporters are reminded that a cash gate will be in operation for tomorrow’s game – £15 adults, £10 concessions and £1 kids with a paying adult.
