“We stepped up to the mark” – OK

COLERAINE boss Oran Kearney was pleased with his side’s performance and the result as they saw off the challenge of Cliftonville at The Showgrounds…

The boss described the performance from his players as ‘swashbuckling’ as a brace of penalties from Ben Doherty was the difference on the Ballycastle Road.

The two spot kicks were won by Matthew Shevlin and Kearney heaped praise on his contribution from a wide area, as well as discussing his trust in Doherty’s technique to dispatch from 12 yards.

Kearney was delighted to see his troops register a clean sheet against the in-form visitors with the boss pointing out the Bannsiders’ defensive record in the league.

Coleraine are next in action against Glentoran on Tuesday night and Kearney has challenged his players to reach that level of performance yet again.
