COLERAINE FC is pleased to announce the signing of goalkeeper Lewis Webb…
Hailing from Newport in Wales, 24-year-old Webb began his football journey in the youth setups of Cardiff City and Newport County before joining Merthyr Town in 2018.
His impressive performances at Penydarren Park earned him a move to Swansea City on scholarship terms, where he quickly stood out at U18 level and signed his first professional contract in 2019.
He went on loan to Shelbourne in 2022, making seven starts under Damien Duff, before playing a key role for Caernarfon Town in 2023/24, where his 35 appearances helped the club reach the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers.
He was most recently with Newport County where he was a mainstay in the first-team squad in League Two.
On the international stage, Webb has represented Wales at both U18 and U21 levels, earning a combined eight caps.
Webb is available to play in today’s Sports Direct Premiership encounter at Portadown.
Michael Dougherty, Head of Goalkeeping at The Showgrounds, outlined the reasons behind the switch.
He said: “We’re delighted to bring in someone of Lewis quality and he will for sure enhance our current goalkeeping options.
“Unfortunately Harry Evans has been missing with injury for the past few months and unavailable for selection.
“Aaron Hoey-Kemp has done fantastic in his NW Cup appearances and day-to-day development but it would be massively unfair to have to put a young goalkeeper in such a highly pressurised environment should anything happen to Aidan Harris.
“Ryan Schofield is continuing with his post-op rehab and has made really good progress and we will continue to support him in his recovery.”
