Whiteside returns to Derry City

Whiteside – who made 19 appearances for the Stripes – will return to his parent club Derry City ahead of the new League of Ireland season.

The former Glasgow Rangers trainee joined Oran Kearney’s side on a short-term loan deal in August to provide defensive cover after the injury to Lyndon Kane.

Coleraine manager Oran Kearney paid tribute to Whiteside for his performances and wished the defender all the best for the future.

“I’d like to wish Scot all the best for the upcoming season.” Kearney said.

“He was able to play a number of roles for us and he never let us down.

“His loan deal is up today, so he will resume training with Derry.

“On behalf of everyone involved at Coleraine, we would like to thank Scot for his time and dedication.”
