#WhyWeCare

COLERAINE FC is proud to support the Foster Care Fortnight campaign to raise awareness of foster care and to celebrate the fostering community…

Established in 1997, the campaign showcases the commitment, passion and dedication of foster carers. It also supports fostering services to highlight the need for more foster carers.

Thousands of new foster families are needed every year to care for children, with the greatest need being for foster carers for older children, sibling groups, disabled children and unaccompanied asylum seeking children.

Foster Care Fortnight 2021 will take place from 10 to 23 May. This year’s theme is #WhyWeCare.

A spokesperson on behalf of the Fostering Services for the Northern Health and Social Care Trust said:

“Within the Northern Trust we have a pool of amazing and dedicated foster carers providing an invaluable service to vulnerable children in our local communities.

“Presently we still require more to help keep children in their local communities and maintain their essential connections.

“As part of Foster Care Fortnight we are beyond proud to be able to demonstrate the excellent work by carers and social workers who strive to do so but we still need more carers.

“At present we especially need carers for teenagers, siblings and children who have entered our trust area as unaccompanied minors.”

Richard McFetridge, Director at Coleraine Football Club, said:

“Coleraine Football Club are proud to get behind Foster Care Fortnight.

“We want to raise awareness to the great work the Northern Trust do by getting vulnerable children into a safe space with local foster carers.”
