DEAN Shiels says Declan McManus’ years of practice and repetition paid off as he netted a priceless winner at Mourneview Park yesterday afternoon…

A stunning free-kick by McManus proved to be the difference as the Bannsiders won at the County Armagh venue for the first time in the league since August 2019.

Shiels started by saying he was “delighted” to get the three points and that his side had “to fight, scrap and dig in” on a difficult playing surface at Mourneview Park.

McManus’ free-kick is one to be remembered and Shiels says it was “no accident” as the striker has worked on his technique over the years.

The victory, which was the Bannsiders’ third in a row, also saw another clean sheet being banked – much to Shiels’ satisfaction.

He further outlined how it was pleasing to send the travelling support happy, especially after the manner of the 3-3 draw at the same venue back in November.
