RUAIDHRI Higgins says Coleraine are preparing to face a good Moyola Park side in this evening’s BetMcLean Cup quarter-final…

The Bannsiders are the visitors to Mill Meadow as the victors knows they will be away to either Cliftonville or Glentoran in the final four.

After beating Portstewart in the opening round, Moyola have then triumphed against Annagh United and top-flight Dungannon Swifts in the competition – a feat that hasn’t gone unnoticed by Higgins.

“They’ve earned the right to be in the quarter-final,” he said.

“They had a brilliant win against Dungannon in the last round.

“If you can beat Dungannon, then you’re a good side. They’re littered with loads of Irish League experience in their team.

“They’ll get our full respect, we’ll go to Myola and try and get ourselves into a semi-final of a cup.

“It’s a really good tournament now, there’s a lot at stake and it’s important that we progress and get into the semi-final.”

Coleraine beat Crusaders in Premiership duty last Saturday as Jamie Glackin and Jamie McGonigle scored in a 2-0 success.

It marked McGonigle’s first goal this season after an injury lay-off and Higgins is pleased to have the attacker back at his disposal.

He stated: “Jamie has had a difficult 18 months or so.

“He’s had a difficult last three months as he tore his quad, but honestly, his application, how he’s been training in the background, his own stuff in the gym, he’s put on a lot of muscle.

“He looks really strong at the minute. I had Jamie for a period at Derry where he was unplayable.

“He really was and the idea would be to get him as close to that as possible.

“If we can get him anywhere near close to that period he had, then we’ll have a hell of a player on our hands for the second part of the season.”

Supporters are reminded that entry is via a cash gate – £10 adults, £8 concessions and £5 U16s.
