DEAN Shiels says Irish League clubs should use the “jealously” of Larne’s European exploits as motivation in the years ahead…

The Bannsiders face the Inver Reds on Sunday who became the first team from Northern Ireland to qualify for the group stage of European football on Thursday night.

Shiels says the Inver Reds are the benchmark for other clubs to follow but that Coleraine are at the very early stages of the foundation in terms of making measured progress.

The head coach acknowledged that patience is required for that progress to take shape and that recent recruits are at the club for long-term success.

Shiels stated that he expects Larne to arrive at The Showgrounds on a high and it is up to his squad to make life difficult for the visitors.
