Big games excite Kearney

COLERAINE will aim to keep the pressure on leaders Linfield as they are the visitors to Inver Park tomorrow afternoon (KO 3pm)…

Danske Bank Premiership

Overview:

Coleraine remained in second spot in the Premiership table last weekend after a 2-2 draw against Glentoran on the Ballycastle Road. The Bannsiders would trail by two goals at the break as Robbie McDaid and Paul O’Neill netted for the visitors. However, Coleraine responded by pulling a goal back early in the second-half through a delightful long range effort from Aaron Jarvis. Just when it looked like the goalkeeping exploits of Marijan Antolovic would earn the Glens a win, the hosts equalised when Jarvis nodded home his second of the game. Larne will go into the fixture with added confidence after a 3-1 win against Glenavon via goals from Harry Flowers, Albert Watson and Johnny McMurray.

Recent meetings:

Coleraine and Larne met back in September and the game ended in a scoreless draw at The Showgrounds. The visitors would enjoy the majority of the chances in the first-half as Chris Johns was alert to deny Marty Donnelly, before Jeff Hughes’ header sailed over the crossbar. The second-half was more to end to end as Aaron Jarvis struck the crossbar, with Larne substitute Shane McEleney firing wide from inside the area.

Manager’s Thoughts:

“The games are coming thick and fast and there is so much football to be played and so many big, big results needed,” he said.

“The semi-final was brilliant and we are happy to outlay that energy to get to the final, but we have to shelve the final now.

“The key thing now is to rest and recharge as the Christmas period is crazy.

“It is so important that we have as many fresh bodies as possible.”
