Bannsiders ready for Windsor showdown

The Bannsiders face champions and current league leaders Linfield.

The game, which kicks off at 5.30pm, is being shown live on the BBC iplayer.

It comes hot on the heels of Tuesday’s hard fought 1-0 win over Ballymena United.

That win made it nine unbeaten for the men from the Showgrounds and sets up a mouth watering clash.

Oran Kearney’s men are back to the Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday routine again (Carrick Rangers away next midweek) after their last two matches at Glenavon and Glentoran were postponed.

“To be honest the Glenavon postponement probably did us no harm,” admitted manager Oran Kearney.

“There were a few players who needed a rest.

“We had some guys who had played five games in 15 days.”

Saturday’s postponement at the Oval was, however, disappointing.

“We had a break with the Glenavon game called off and we were ready to go again.

“But these things are out of our control.”

With Ballymena out of the way and another three points pocketed, attention now turns to Linfield.

“Our focus was solely on Tuesday. Only now does it turn to Saturday,” added Oran.

A repeat of our midweek result would do nicely!
