However, no shortage of honest endeavour and genuine team commitment was a very encouraging bonus for manager Gareth Scott despite the 8-1 scoreline.

He said: “This work rate and genuine togetherness will stand the group in great stead as we work to develop our fledgling team without the luxury of playing in an appropriate division for our experience.

“If you are a genuine lover of sport you understand how much progress is required and we certainly are working hard at improving our skills and performance in the heat of battle.

“Great strides are being made and the tide will turn when we find our level.”
