Coleraine Alexandra maintain good form

COLERAINE Alexandra continue to impress this season and recently celebrated a 7-0 win over Bertie Peacock Colts…

Coleraine Alexandra’s impressive run of form continued on Saturday with this victory over Bertie Peacock Colts. Both teams started the first-half brightly although any efforts the defence of Troy McKay and Brajan Baginski limited Peacock’s to long range efforts which won them a few corners.

Alexandra’s first chance fell to Lewis Lynn with the Bertie’s keeper getting down low to deny him other chances fell to Robbie Ramsay and Reece Campbell but again the Bertie’s keeper was hard to get past.

Five minutes before the break, Alexandra did make the breakthrough as Lewis Lynn picked the ball up on the halfway line, made his way forward and after the Bertie’s defence backed off, he drilled a low effort into the corner.

Half time: Coleraine Alexandra 1-0 Bertie Peacock Colts

Coaches Daryl and Lee Cauley wanted a reaction and to be more confident carrying the ball forward in the second half. And the boys produced a performance to be proud of two early goals from Lewis Lynn – the first a high shot into the roof of the net and the other from an angle struck a great shot into the top corner to make it 3-0 – completed his hat-trick.

A calm and collective Alexandra continued to be in the ascendancy and didn’t take long to add to their account as Reece Campbell’s shot under pressure deflected off the Bertie’s player and into the corner. Next to get in on the act was Robbie Ramsay after Oliver Wright played a great ball to Lewis he found himself in a two versus one situation and he squared the ball for Robbie who calmly slotted to make it five.

The pick of the goals came from substitute Daniel Wiesner who replaced Oliver. After Lewis and Robbie’s runs created gaps in the opposition’s defence, Reece took on two players before slipping in Daniel who evaded the challenge of the defender to chip the keeper and into the top corner.

Lewis Lynn grabbed his his fourth goal of the game with a sharp turn and shot past the Bertie’s keeper to make it 7-0. Bertie’s did come into the game in the final five minutes but just couldn’t find a a way past the defence of Troy and substitute Noah Wilson who stood firm alongside goalkeeper Luke Bellingham.

The boys have came on in leaps and bounds and Daryl, Lee and Uel are proud of how the boys are progressing as a team week in week out couldn’t ask for much more than this keep up the good work.
