Cup Debut

COLERAINE will make their bow in the Irn-Bru Challenge Cup as they take on Formartine United at The Showgrounds this evening (KO 7:45pm)…

The Bannsiders were in clinical form last time out as goals from Josh Carson and Jamie McGonigle (2) earned all three points against Crusaders. That win moved the Stripes to the top of the Danske Bank Premiership but Linfield’s success last night means they are now at the summit having played a game more. The contest will be the first fixture of the post-Oran Kearney era as the Ballymoney man was appointed as St Mirren manager yesterday afternoon.

The visitors come into today’s clash sitting in 6th position in the Highland League and are managed by ex-Celtic midfielder Paul Lawson. They had a successful season last time out as they narrowly missed out on the League but lifted the Highland League Cup and Aberdeenshire Cup.

The home side will be without the services of Lyndon Kane, James McLaughlin and Stephen O’Donnell through injury. However, the Irish Cup holders had a boost last Monday with the return of striker Aaron Burns to the matchday panel.

Supporters are advised that entry is via cash gate only with admission prices set at £11 adults and £7 concessions.

As ever, those unable to attend can follow the latest updates via the club’s official Twitter account (@ColeraineFC).
