Derek’s doing his bit

The recent sad loss of Alan Ewing remains fresh in all our minds.

So it’s fitting that Alan’s former Coleraine team mate Derek Cook is getting involved in a worthwhile charity event this weekend.

On the Sunday, Derek will be turning out for Glentoran Legends against Winton Rovers Legends in Ardrossan – that’s if he can still walk – because this Saturday, Cookie is also undertaking a charity cycle.

“I’ve a massive day lined up on the Sunday with proceeds helping kids with mental health issues and the prevention of suicide,” explained Derek.

“As part of the weekend I’m doing a 56 mile cycle around the west coast of Scotland.

“Last time I did it several years ago I got lost for five hours and stranded on an island!

It’s a tough hilly course and I’ve done no training so any motivation or help out there will be appreciated.”

All proceeds raised will go to the Butterfly Club and Beautiful Inside and Out.

Anyone wishing to make a donation can message Derek.cook@weston-homes.com or send payment to account number 28673328, sort code 04-00-75.

Good luck Derek!
