Extension for James

COLERAINE FC is delighted to announce that James McLaughlin has signed a two-year contract extension…

The deal will tie the striker down to the club until the end of the 2022/23 season.

McLaughlin joined the club in August 2015 and has made 137 appearances, scoring 58 times in the process.

The Mosside man became the first Coleraine player to score in back-to-back European fixtures since 2002 after recent efforts against La Fiorita and NK Maribor.

Speaking to colerainefc.com, boss Oran Kearney credited McLaughlin for his efforts both on and off the pitch.

“This news is brilliant for everyone concerned,” he said.

“James has got himself into tremendous shape and is reaching figures on the GPS tracker that he wouldn’t have a few years ago.

“He is a natural born goalscorer and that has been evident in the recent European games.

“He is a big part of the identity at the club and is a popular member of the squad.”

The 30-year-old insists the news tops off a couple of good weeks as the club reached the second qualifying round of the Europa League.

“I’m delighted to extend my stay at club,” McLaughlin said.

“It is a great way to top off a fantastic couple of weeks.

“The progression that the club has went through during my five years here is evident to see and I’ve no doubt that it will continue.”
