Kane has faith in team-mates

LYNDON Kane insists it’s important that his team-mates carry on the momentum from last weekend’s draw against Glentoran…

The Bannsiders make the trip to Mourneview Park tomorrow afternoon as they aim to record a first victory against the Lurgan Blues since March 2020.

However, they will have to do it without the services of Kane who misses through suspension after picking up five yellow cards.

Despite being disappointed at missing out, the defender/midfielder knows his team-mates have what it takes to secure a positive result against Gary Hamilton’s side.

“Unfortunately, I’m suspended but I blame Glacks for the booking against Glentoran,” he joked.

“It’s disappointing to be ruled out but for the lads it’s a big one.

“It’s a tough place to go, we know what Glenavon are like and they have quality players.

“They’ve been a tough team for us to play in recent years, but for us, we need to take confidence from the Glentoran game but add more quality going forward.

“However, if we take large parts of what we did against Glentoran into tomorrow then there’s no reason why we can’t pick up a win.”

Kane is in line for his 250th appearance if he is selected for the game against Larne in a week’s time.

“It would mean so much to me but it’s a long time coming,” he added.

“If it wasn’t for the injuries I had, I would have surpassed that figure by now and be closer to 400.

“But listen, I wouldn’t change what has happened in my career at Coleraine as I’ve probably came back from those injuries as a better player.

“I feel like I’m comfortable on the pitch, I’m a better reader of the game and everything else.

“To get to 250 games is special for me, for my family and something that means a lot.”
