The Stripes would make a winning start to their pre-season fixtures as they ran out 5-1 victors against the Toon at The Showgrounds.

Oran Kearney’s side would race into a two goal lead as two of the club’s bright young talents took centre stage. The first effort would arrive from the boot of Luca Doherty before fellow midfielder Corey McLaughlin got in on the act soon after.

However, the Toon would half the deficit soon after with a delightful effort of their own to make the score 2-1 at half-time.

Coleraine would regain their two goal lead four minutes into the second-half as Conor McKendry netted a delightful free-kick after missing a chance just sixty seconds prior.

The scoring would be completed with two late goals as Jack O’Mahony stabbed home from close range and McKendry added his second of the afternoon.
