McConaghie signs on

COLERAINE FC is delighted that Gareth McConaghie has become the third player to commit his future to the club this week…

The defender has signed on the dotted line to remain at The Showgrounds for the upcoming campaign.

McConaghie who made his debut for the Bannsiders in August 2016 has lifted the Irish Cup and League Cup during his time at the club.

The Dervock man has made a total of 114 appearances, scoring seven times in the process.

Bannsiders boss Oran Kearney is hopeful to have the 33-year-old ready for pre-season after an injury curtailed McConaghie’s involvement towards the back end of the 2020/21 campaign.

“Gareth had a frustrating injury over pre-season last year but then stepped up and scored a massive penalty in Maribor,” he said.

“That helped him have a great season and he was in fine form but unfortunately a knee injury brought that to an end.

“It was a no brainer to give Gareth a new deal and it was agreed last January with minimum fuss.

“He is a local lad and keeps himself in great shape.

“We are looking forward to his return in pre-season and can’t wait to see him back out on the pitch.”
