The Limavady man has been in fine form this season, making 32 appearances in all competitions.

Canning scooped the most votes ahead of Chris Johns, Josh Carson and Ben Doherty, amongst others.

Speaking after being announced as the winner, Canning thanked the fans for their votes and hopes to repay them with European football for next season.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed being back at Coleraine and playing for the club means everything to me,” he said.

“I would like to thank all the supporters who voted for me as it’s such a prestigious honour.

“We are working hard to ensure that we can repay your terrific support with European football next season.”

Coleraine FC would like to congratulate Aaron for his terrific season and he will be presented with his award before the match against Crusaders this evening, as well as thanking Avonbrook Trophies for providing a top class service.
