COLERAINE FC and the Harry Gregg Foundation are delighted to announce John Gregg as the new Head of Youth Development at the club…

As an initial investment the partnership have unveiled Pro-licensed coach and former professional and Irish League player and manager John Gregg as the Head of Youth Development.

A spokesperson for the partnership said, “We are all really excited about this appointment and the opportunities this will afford to young players, coaches and the senior club.

“John brings a lifetime of football associated knowledge and experience to a roll which will oversee the implementation of the development strategy.

“A strategy which will encompass Coleraine FC Academy’s’ Soccer School, all of the Academy age groups, the Under 20’s and ultimately onward to Coleraine FC senior squad.

“This appointment comes at a point where local youth and Academy football is thriving and gaining recognition throughout Northern Ireland and further afield.

“This was evident in the very high standard of applicants received for the position”.

Coleraine manager Oran Kearney commented that the position was something the club had strived to fulfil in recent years.

“It has been a key position for us to fill since I have been at the club,” Kearney added.

“We were probably incapable of financing it, but it’s brilliant that the club and Academy have come together to make it happen.

“It is an important role and John will have a lot of work on his plate but he is more than capable.

“It is essential that this role has been filled for the club to move forward.”
