Kearney rues ‘star quality’

COLERAINE boss Oran Kearney reflected on the Bannsiders’ first home defeat of the season against Crusaders last night…

A solitary goal on 18 minutes by Crusaders striker Jordan Owens would prove to be the difference at The Showgrounds.

Kearney was wary of his side feeling the effects of their excursions during the Christmas and New Year period, but knew they faced an uphill battle after conceding so early on in difficult playing conditions.

The Stripes had numerous opportunities in the second-half and Kearney was disappointed that there was ‘no star quality’ in front of goal to at least take a share of the spoils.

The two clubs are set to meet in next month’s League Cup final but the boss insists the defeat will have ‘no bearing’ on that fixture.
