The Coleraine based postman took in his first Bannsiders game on Tuesday night.

And he proved to be something of a lucky charm as the Stripes turned on the style to book their place in the Bet McLean League Cup final in March.

Originally from Strabane, Seamus, who now lives in Ballymoney, loved every minute of his Showgrounds experience.

So much so that he will be back again next midweek for the Glentoran game with father-in-law Joe Donnelly who played for Coleraine and Portadown in the 70’s.

“It was actually my first ever Irish League game at 45,” revealed Seamus.

“I went with Stephen Blair who is a junior referee and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

“It’s a great set up and the Social Club where I met Gerry Armstrong is great.

“As I say I had never been to a game before but I will definitely start going regularly.”

Seamus, a talented athlete with Springwell Running Club, says he will definitely recommend a visit to The Showgrounds to friends.

“Without a doubt. There was a great buzz about the place, a nice atmosphere.

“I wasn’t sure what to expect but I thought the overall experience was very good.

“I also ran into an old friend Bobby Farren, the top Irish runner, and it was good to catch up with him.

“The quality of football too was impressive and for £12, it’s for nothing for a night out.

“I can’t make the Crusaders game on Saturday but we’ve our tickets bought already for next Wednesday!”
