Special Guest

COLERAINE FC is pleased to announce that a special guest will be at The Showgrounds tomorrow afternoon…

Former defender Kyle McVey will return to the Ballycastle Road for the game against Dungannon Swifts.

McVey is guest of Honorary Vice President, Frankie Moffatt, who gave a glowing reference for the former Linfield and Ballymena United player.

KYLE MCVEY

This week I am delighted to welcome Kyle McVey back to The Showgrounds as my Special Guest.

Kyle represented the club a total of 289 times over a ten-year period, commencing in 2004 scoring 26 goals in the process, which is a remarkable number for a central defender.

Kyle was an extremely talented young man who came into the team as a teenager and quickly established himself as one of its main players. He had all the attributes necessary to be a top defender being commanding in the air, hard in the tackle and good on the ball when time and space permitted.

A whole hearted player who gave his all every time he pulled on the jersey and indeed many were saddened when in June of 2013 he moved on and signed for Linfield. This says something about the status that Kyle achieved in the game as we all know Linfield don’t sign bad players.

Since then Kyle has played for a number of teams and his love of the game is such that he is still playing and helping to run Bushmills FC in the Coleraine & District League.

Another local lad who deserves to be recognised as a club legend so please join me and give him a warm Bannsider welcome on Saturday.
