Special Guests

COLERAINE FC is pleased to announce that two special guests will be at The Showgrounds tomorrow afternoon…

Local defenders Paul Gaston and Stewart Clanachan will return to the Ballycastle Road for the game against Glentoran.

The two gentlemen are guests of Honorary Vice President, Frankie Moffatt, who gave a glowing reference for the pair.

PAUL GASTON

Paul played exactly 600 times for the club over a period of 17 years and was an outstanding talent.

I had the great pleasure of coaching him in both the Reserves and first-team at the beginning of his career and his ability as both a centre-half and centre-forward was obvious for all to see.

He forged a great career at the centre of our defence and became regarded as one of the best in the league.

A quiet, yet funny lad, who is still contributing to the club as a coach within the Academy.

STEWART CLANACHAN

He is joined by his great mate Stewart who played a total of 422 times over a 12-year period.

‘Stew’ was a fantastic full-back, equally adept at defending and supporting the attack when the opportunity arose.

In 2003, both lads joined an elite band of players who have won the Irish Cup whilst playing for their hometown team, something that they are rightly proud of.

Please join me in welcoming them back to their old stomping ground and I hope they have a great day.
