Frankie Moffatt is well known for his footballing exploits over the years.

A former Irish League star and respected manager, he is still a familiar face around Coleraine Showgrounds.

Now the popular Portstewart man has shown he has another talent….as an author!

‘Basher’ has just completed his first book.

Entitled The Penzance Smash, it is now available to pre order from austinmcauley.com and Waterstones.com

The book tells the story about love and family.

It captures a period in time in the post war era when people were putting their lives together after the horrors and shortages of World War 2.

The Penzance Smash focuses on one family, living in one of the many new estates springing up throughout the UK at that time.

It also tells of a sport – homing pigeon racing – once so popular amongst working classes but now virtually disappeared.

Frankie evokes a very moving and vivid take of the hardships faced by one family and recounts how one man brought up two young boys, giving them the best life he could.

This man taught them the values he believed would be necessary for their future.

He taught them to be independent, respectful and never to give up no matter what life threw at them.

Most importantly, he taught them real love.

The Penzance Smash would make a perfect Christmas gift.

Great work Frankie!
