The Bannsiders kicked started their pre-season schedule in fine style with a win against Gary Smyth’s side. After both teams missed chances to take the lead, the deadlock was broken on 33 minutes as Ben Doherty arrowed a fantastic strike into the top corner.

However, the visitors drew level early in the second-half as Stephen O’Donnell could only divert Ross Arthurs’ effort into his own goal. After the Welders missed a glorious opportunity to take the lead, Coleraine would go 2-1 ahead as James McLaughlin flicked home from Aaron Traynor’s cross.

On 63 minutes, Coleraine would stretch their advantage as Doherty’s right-wing cross was headed home by Stephen O’Donnell as the Bannsiders ran out worthy winners.
